Focus on muscles, not bones - massage slowly and steadily

Begin with neck › apply oil drops to hands › use your fingers to grasp the side of the neck and gently press on the muscles and tendons, knead with your thumb and forefingers (bonus tip: massage the head with your free hand)

Move to shoulders › apply oil drops to area › rest your fingers over the shoulders and place your thumbs on the muscles located on either side of the neck › squeeze the shoulders and press in with your thumbs, slowly and steadily

Move to the back › apply oil drops to area › working down from the shoulders, rubbing muscles as you go › knead lower back area with hands and thumbs (bonus tip: massage with the heel of your hand on lower back muscle with your fingers pointed away from body)

Next work on arms › apply oil drops to area › use both hands to form a circle around the upper arm, kneading with your palms and fingers › repeat for other arm

Then work on hands › apply oil drops to area › massage each hand between your thumb and forefinger, taking care to work palms, thumbs and each finger › repeat for other hand (bonus tip: bend hands back and forth to stretch muscle as you massage them)

Next work on legs › apply oil drops to area › knead well from thighs to ankles › repeat for other leg

Then work on feet › apply oil drops to area › massage each foot between your thumb and forefinger, taking care without to much pressure on bones or tickling › repeat for other foot (bonus tip: bend hands back and forth to stretch muscle as you massage them)

Finish with face and head › apply oil drops to hands › kneeling behind the person, use your fingers to rub temples in circular motions, gentle rubbing forehead and sinus area › placing fingers on scalp and massaging it in motions like you’re shampooing hair

* Effleurage massage is a smooth stroke that relaxes soft muscle tissue, your hands should glide easily over the surface of the body

* Petrissage massage involves squeezing and rolling the muscle between your hands, which is useful for loosening muscle tension

* Friction massage is the use of deep movements administered with steady pressure in order to cause tissues to rub against one another and stimulate circulation

* Tapotement massage is a staccato tap done with the sides or heels of the hands
